What would you choose if I asked you to choose between over-ear headphones and in-ear headphones? I know that one answer won't fit all. But there are some common reasons many people avoid Over-Ear Headphones. Which are they?
Over-ear headphones are not portable and difficult to carry due to their size.
Over-Ear headphones are less durable. It doesn't mean that all In-ear headphones are more durable than Over-Ear headphones but many people avoid over-ear headphones due to less durability But the fact is that build quality decides durability.
After trying V-Moda Crossfade M-100 Over-Ear Headphones I can say that you don't need to worry about the durability of Over-Ear Headphones. without adding more words let's review V-Moda Crossfade M-100 Over-Ear Headphones. It also has some cons but pros overpowered cons.
Pros:
Cons:
Sound
Build
Comfort
Value
Bottom Line:
If you ask me about Crossfade M-100 I will say it's a great DJ Headphone. You won't be disappointed if you buy V Moda Crossfade M100. Superior build and high durability, Compact & Portable design, Crisp Vocal, and sharp mids & highs. Everything is good but poor noise isolation and sound leakage are the cons.
But the most important point I shouldn't miss is that you can get the latest upgraded version or other V-Moda headsets in the same price range.
Like I mentioned in the specification it is made up in 2012 and even after 9 years it overpowers many expensive headsets but the upgraded version of V Moda Crossfade M100 is V-Moda Crossfade M-100 Master is slightly better than it.
So If you ask me to choose between V-Moda M100 and V-Moda master I will go with V-Moda Master. My suggestion is to check the review of V-Moda Crossfade M100 Master make your final decision.
How is the Design and Build Quality of Crossfade M-100?
Build & Design: Almost 9 years ago V-Moda designed Crossfade M-100 and even after 9 years when I saw these headphones it feels perfect. Are you looking for headphones with high durability? if yes then you should check the design and build quality of Crossfade M-100.
Strong Metal-core headband that won't break even if you twist or stretch it thousand times.
The most noticeable feature is its patented CliqFold hinge. Crossfade M-100 looks the same as V Moda's M-80 except for its patented CliqFold hinges. These hinges make Crossfade M-100 super portable.
If you notice any Over-Ear headphones you will find that carrying these types of headphones while traveling is a little bit annoying due to their size and design but Crossfade M-100 is an exception.
V-Moda M100 weighs 280 g. The whole frame of the headband is made up of steel while the earcup shield is aluminum which helps in weight reduction. The material used for the Headband is steel which made this headband solid and highly durable.
Hinges are easily movable and produce a nice sound while moving them. Earpad is comfortable with having memory foam. It feels so cozy. Though Headband doesn't have big padding it is comfortable to wear.
Earpads are easily replaceable and ear shields are too. V-Moda gives you an Allen Key to remove ear shield screws. But I need slight efforts to remove those screws.
V-Moda is famous for its rugged construction and Crossfade M100 is also the same. If you ask me to give a rating for its build quality I will say 10 on 10 but for comfort, I will give it 8 out of 10. I cut the 2 marks for the less Padding at the headband top.
V-Moda crossfade M100 comes with 1-Button Mic Cable that makes your calling quite easy and comfortable.
Imagine that you are enjoying music with your friend and both of you want to listen to the same song at the same time. I know it's not a big deal when you are using your mobile as a music source but what if you have only one digital audio player and want to share the music?
Don't worry! V-Moda gives you the cool share play cable that allows you to share the music. The 4 feet long In-line mic cable makes your calling comfortable and 7 feet long share play cable performs its job quite well.
V Moda claims that both cables are super strong and will not break easily. Though I haven't tested them they seem good.
The package also comes with a Gold plated pro adapter and Exoskeleton Carry Case. This carry case is so strong and compact that I could easily hold it. Though my hands are not big.
V-Moda design and construct Crossfade M100, especially for portability. The package comes with a Carabiner Clip. This clip helps to organize the accessories in the carrying case.
What I liked the most about M100 is its flexibility. V Moda took possible care of everyone. They give you an option of CoilPro Cable with TwistLock technology. if you are a DJ Coilpro cable will make your job easy.
If you are a gamer they have BoomPro Microphone for clear communication. This Microphone takes your gaming experience to the next level. If you want to listen to only music there is an option to remove the remote so you can enjoy instruments only.
V Moda gives you a 2 years warranty for Crossfade M100 and if it damages or breaks after the warranty period V Moda offers you a new M100 with just half of the current price. I liked the level of confidence V-Moda has in its build.
How is the Sound Performance of Crossfade M100?
V-Moda Crossfade M100 is a value for the money headset and the reason is a great build and solid performance. One minor thing that I noticed is the person near you can hear the music you are hearing with V Moda M100. There is a little bit of sound leakage.
Crossfade M100 doesn't have active noise cancellation. You will get passive noise isolation with M100 which is not the best but average. They eliminate certain kinds of noises but you need to speak loud to one who wears M100. There is no auto-pause & play music like Sony XM4.
Now let's turn to sound testing. The bass is solid and punchy but not deeper. If you want crisp vocals then V Moda is truly the best. Sharp highs and balanced mids give you a great musical experience but if you want deeper bass then your search doesn't end here.
Overall Crossfade M 100 worth. It didn't disappoint me. They Focused on highs and mids but deeper & Punchy bass is missing. If you consider the build, design, and performance M100 is much better than many other expensive headsets. But the poor noise isolation and leakage of sound was the reason I couldn't give them 10 out of 10 for the sound performance.
