KLIPSCH is a reputed name in the audio industry. They have been delivering high-quality products for more than 7 decades. The audio industry is so crowdy. Making audio gears with high quality and design at an affordable price is quite challenging.
But Klipsch manages to do it quite well. I reviewed Klipsch audio gear for the first time and, I have mixed feelings about KLIPSCH GROOVE PORTABLE BLUETOOTH SPEAKER. Don't go on its tiny size. Though Klipsch Groove is small it delivers powerful output. Especially Bass which is my favorite area.
as I said, I have a mix feelings about it. So, Without delay, let's go for my Klipsch groove portable Bluetooth speaker reviews.
Pros:
Cons:
Sound
Build
Battery
Value
Bottom Line:
As I said I have mixed feelings about Klipsch Groove Portable Bluetooth Speaker. Let's start with likes. The Pro I liked the most is its powerful sound. If you take a look at its size you will surprise how such a tiny-sized speaker can produce such a loud sound. especially The Bass is punchy and powerful. Another plus point is its solid build and compact size with an ipx4 splashproof body. Though it's not for sinking in the water it can handle some splashes.
Let's move for Cons. Treble is poor. Of course, the speaker isn't high-end so I didn't expect very crystal clear sound but still, I think it could be better. the most disliking thing is it doesn't have a speakerphone. It's a little bit strange and disappointing at the same time. Klipsch Groove's competitors like Bose SoundLink Micro have that advantage. You have a speakerphone with a soundlink micro.
Do I have a better option for Klipsch Groove? Many people ask this question. are Klipsch speakers better than bose? I can't tell you firmly but one thing is sure. If we compare soundlink micro and Klipsch Groove Soundlink is the winner. Klipsch Groove costs $149 while Bose soundlink costs $119. If you are looking for more options for $150 I have some great models like JBL pulse 3, and Ultimate Ears BOOM 2.
How is the Design and Build Quality of Klipsch Groove?
While reviewing any portable speaker I make some sections like the build, appearance, ease of use, and portability. Let's discuss them one by one.
Build: Build is solid. It looks strong and durable with a height of 4.56" and a 2.65" width that looks very compact. Klipsch Groove Portable Bluetooth Speaker weighs almost 0.75kg that is quite ok but when you carry them for traveling someone may find it slightly difficult. But it's not a big deal if you ask my opinion.
Appearance: Klipsch groove is available in 4 different colors. Black, Blue, Grey, Red & Blue. I feel they are ok but not great looking. But, It's a personal choice. I was expecting a different shape. The next point is its portability. It's portable as well as stable with having rubber base that keeps it stable.
Klipsch groove has 3" drivers at the front with having Klipsch logo and transducers on both sides. on the top side, you will get all the control buttons. Power Button, Bluetooth, AUX, play/pause Button and volume up/down buttons.
The overall design is ok. I wish it could be appealing and another minor issue is its weight. it's slightly heavy.
How is the Sound Performance of Klipsch Groove?
Klipsch Groove has a 3" Full Range High Excursion Driver which produces 10w output. It has 2 bass radiators that create the lovely bass effect. You might be thinking that a 3" driver can't produce a louder sound but Klipsch Groove produces a lot louder sound compared to its size. The bass is excellent. Mids are balanced. instrument separation and vocals are pretty clear. Only one issue is a distortion of sound at the top level of sound.
You might have noticed that these tiny size speakers lack clarity when the room size is larger but Klipsch Groove gives clear bass and clear sound even in larger size rooms.
If you talk about its performance excluding price point it's superb but when you see the price tag of $149 you expect more. distortion at high volume is quite common but then makers should also compensate for it by reducing the price. as I said Bose soundlink micro is a good option if you compare it with the price point of view. Soundlink micro costs $110 and almost sounds equal. So I would say Klipsch Groove sounds good but I was expecting better at this price point.
How is the Connectivity of Klipsch Groove?
Klipsch Groove connects smoothly within a second. Just hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds and the Bluetooth light will flash. I faced no issue connecting my android with it.
How is the Charging and Battery performance of Klipsch Groove?
Groove has a rechargeable lithium battery and a Micro USB charging socket. If you want to check the battery charging status you must know that a flashing red light is a signal of less than 5% charging, Green indicates that the battery has charged 50%. makers of Klipsch Groove claimed 8 hours of battery life but this isn't completely true. Groove gives only 6 hours of charging at the high level of volume which is very poor. Speakers like Ultimate ears Boom 2 which costs $110 give much better performance than Groove. It gives 10 hours of battery life and sounds louder too. Bose soundlink micro also gives 4-5 hrs battery life. at 80% of the total volume level.
