Bottom Line:
SoundPeats TrueFree 2 is a decent pair of true wireless earbuds for under $40, ideal for workouts with punchy bass and clear vocals, but lacks good connectivity and battery life. Overall rating is 7.5 to 8 out of 10. Call quality is also average or sometimes below average. so I wouldn't recommend these pair for calling.
How is the Design and Build Quality of SOUNDPEATS TrueFree 2?
SoundPeats TrueFree2 earbuds have a simple design with passive noise isolation and an IPX7 rating for intense workouts and heavy rain or shower use. It comes with different sizes of ear fins and ear tips to provide a perfect fit. The SoundPeats logo is visible on the earbuds. The TrueFree 2 package includes 2 pairs of Earfins, 3 pairs of eartips in different sizes, a USB C charging cable, and a manual.
Let's talk about controls of Truefree 2
The touch controls are responsive and convenient to operate. Let's see how to operate them.
Power On: Take out the buds from charging case or press and hold the multifunction button.
Power Off: place the buds back into the case
Volume up: double tap to the right earbud
Volume down: double tap to the left earbud
next track: press and hold the right earbud for a second
Previous track: Press and hold the left earbud for a second
The build quality of the charging case and earbuds is decent, but the charging case is comparatively bigger than its competitors like JLab Go Air Tones. It's not bothersome to carry them in a pocket, but you can feel it when you keep the TrueFree 2 in your pocket.
The earbuds come with a USB-C charging port on the back and an LED indicator for charging status. Keep in mind that the charging case is not waterproof, so make sure to dry the earbuds before storing them.
Overall, I have no issues with the design and build quality of the SoundPeats TrueFree 2. They are comfortable and fit perfectly. To ensure a proper fit, you need to wear the buds correctly as instructed in the manual. I would rate them 8 out of 10 for the design and build of the TrueFree 2.
How is the Sound Performance of SOUNDPEATS TrueFree 2?
Let's get real about the sound quality of the SoundPeats TrueFree 2 earbuds. These earbuds are specifically designed for workouts, and their sound signature perfectly complements their overall build and design.
Workout enthusiasts will absolutely love the powerful bass that the TrueFree 2 delivers, as well as its deep sub-bass and well-balanced mids. The soundstage is truly remarkable considering the size and type of earbuds, providing an immersive listening experience akin to having speakers in the room. Finally, the treble is bright and clear, ensuring that your listening experience is nothing short of stellar.
You get the best experience when you find the perfect fit. Overall, I would rate the SoundPeats TrueFree 2 as an 8 out of 10 for its decent sound quality considering its price.
Hoenstly Speaking, SoundPeats TrueFree 2 isn't great choice for calling. Call quality isn't impressive at all. Person opposite to me was experiencing muffled sound of mine and he said it wasn't a decent experience to call with these.
How is the Connectivity of SOUNDPEATS TrueFree 2?
Connectivity is not impressive. SoundPeats TrueFree 2, released in 2019, uses Bluetooth version 5.0, which was okay three years ago, but not in 2023. This is especially true when many affordable models now use Bluetooth version 5.3. I think TrueFree 2 is lagging behind its rivals in this aspect.
Though I didn't face any connectivity issues up to 30 ft, I observed that they aren't suitable for gaming. For watching movies and YouTube Videos you can try these. but for gaming, I would suggest some other alternative like SoundPeats Air3 Deluxe HS which has gaming mode for low latency.
SounPeats did not mention which audio codecs they support. It is likely they only support SBC and AAC. Given the price point itβs ok.
How is the Charging and Battery performance of SOUNDPEATS TrueFree 2?
Battery life is a concern for those who use the earbuds for more than four hours at a time. The SoundPeats TrueFree 2 delivers only four hours of playtime on a single charge, which is less than its competitors. However, with the charging case, you can get a total of 20 hours of playtime.
If you prefer to use separate earbuds for workouts, the SoundPeats TrueFree 2 is a good option. The charging case takes two hours to fully charge, and the earbuds need 1.5 hours to charge to 100%. The manufacturer did not mention anything about quick charging, but the USB-C port provides some relief. I would rate SoundPeats TrueFree 2 7.5 out of 10 for the battery playtime and charging.
