When I unboxed the package of Tozo A3 wireless earbuds, I got everything in the package. Charging case, charging cable, user manual, and TOZO A3 Wireless earbuds. But one thing was missing. Extra Silicone tips weren't there.
When I checked the type and other details of the Tozo A3, I found a new type, It's Half In-ear earphones. The word was new to me.
So, what's the Half In-ear earbuds? It's not something very unique. It's just another type of earbuds designed such that they fit perfectly in your ears without attaching silicone tips.
It's also called as semi In-ear earphones. Many of you people don't like Silicone tips. For those, Half In-Ear can be a decent choice. To date, I was unaware of this another type of In-ear earbuds which is called half-in-ear earbuds.
Let's review tozo A3 true wireless earphones. Let me tell you that tozo A3 is is a 3rd pair of earphones from the Tozo A series. First two are Tozo A1 and Tozo A2.
In the end, we are also going to compare these 3.
Half In-Ear earphones
So, what are Half In-ear earphones? Earphones without Silicone tips are half In-ear or semi In-ear earphones. That's ok, but why do they exist?
Typical In-ear earphones have their pros as they go deep into your ears and deliver more bass and less ambient noise. In-ear fits snugly into ears. But they have some cons. It's hard to participate in heavy traffic when you wear In-Ear earphones.
Half In-ear earphones sit near the ear canal. They don't go deep inside the ears which allows ambient noise to hear. These are useful in heavy traffic where you can't ignore the surroundings.
Some people dislike heavy bass. For those, In-ear is a good option. For calling purposes too, half In-ear suits well because you can't hear your own voice when using In-ear while calling.
It's always better to choose the earphones according to your need. If you want earphones for commuting in heavy traffic, choose half In-ear earphones. For the workout, you need snugly fit. So, Choosing In-ear earphones is a good idea here.

Bottom Line:
Tozo A3 Half In-Ear true wireless earphones have decent sound and call quality. It has a 14mm driver which produces punchy bass but it won't bother you, and balanced mids. they don't have IP certification.
which means you can't use them for workouts and showers. the battery can last up to 5 hours on a single charge which isn't much impressive. If call quality is your priority and you don't want to spend more than $30, TOZO A3 can be a good bet.
How is the Design and Build Quality of TOZO A3 ?
TOZO A3 looks much similar to AirPods. It has a stem which makes the bud more stable after wear. The ergonomic design takes care of fit and comfort. Earbuds are so light that you won't even feel them in your ear. The charging case is also lightweight Weighs just 37 grams.
Because of having semi In-ear design, they don't apply pressure on the ears. That means they are more comfortable than in-ear earphones. The charging case has a reset button that allows you to erase the old connection so that you can make a new connection just by pressing the reset button.
Tozo A3 wireless earbuds come with a charging case, USB C charging cable, and instruction manual. Tozo A3 earbuds and charging case have a complete plastic body with white and Matte white color options.
Considering the price, TOZO A3 is a value-for-the-money TWS earbuds with some cons. First and most disappointing for you if you are planning to buy them for workouts. They don't have an IP rating. it means neither you can use them for workouts nor can they handle a splash of water.
That means TOZO A3 can't be your companion in the rain. Another reason they aren't good for workouts is their type of fit. Tozo A3 is Semi In-Ear earphones. They sit outside on your ear canal which doesn't give snugly fit for movements like running.
Overall, I would rate Tozo A3 8 out of 10 for build and design.
How is the Sound Performance of TOZO A3?
TOZO A3 has a bigger driver size of 14.3mm. That means they deliver great bass. Considering the price, it gives an impressive sound quality. It supports AAC and SBC audio codecs which are fair at this price.
Call quality is the area that is the most impressive feature of TOZO A3. It has a DSP call noise reduction feature. DSP is a technique that cancells the noise by generating an anti-noise waveform. For regular calling and casual listening, I would recommend TOZO A3 true wireless earbuds, if you are looking for earphones for under $30.
How is the Connectivity of TOZO A3?
All Tozo gears have great connectivity. The same is true for Tozo A3 true wireless earbuds. With the advanced 5.3 Bluetooth version, they offer a powerful and stable connection with the device.
I didn't face any issues with connectivity. The one-step pairing feature quickly connects to the paired device. When you connect the Tozo A3 for the first time, turn on the Bluetooth of your phone and start scanning for the new device. You can see the name TOZO A3 on your mobile. Just tap on the name and done.
The second time when you open the charging case, TOZO A3 will automatically connect to the previously paired device. I found a minor latency issue when watching videos and playing games.
Overall, I would rate Tozo A3 9 out of 10 for the connectivity.
How is the Charging and Battery performance of TOZO A3?
Let's check the battery life of Tozo A3. It gives up to 5 hrs of battery life on a single charge which isn't impressive. I reviewed many Tozo true wireless earbuds like the Tozo T10 gives 8-10 hours of battery life at 50-60% volume.
With the charging case, it gives a total of 22 hours of battery life. If you listen to music at a higher volume, battery life will reduce. When I listened to music at 70-80% volume, It could last up to 3.5-4 hours which isn't impressive.
TOZO A3 has USB C charging port which is good at this price. It takes 1.5 Hrs for for the earbuds and the charging case for full charging. I think battery life could be better. I would rate 7.5 out of 10 for the battery life of Tozo A3.
TOZO A1 Vs A2 Vs A3
It's time to compare Tozo A1, A2, and A3. All costs are below $30.
Model | TOZO A1 | TOZO A2 | TOZO A3 |
---|---|---|---|
Price | $20 | $20 | $24 |
IP rating | IPX5 | IPX5 | No IP rating |
Battery backup | 5.5 Hrs in single charge | 5 hrs with single charge | 5 Hrs in a single charge |
Driver Size | 6mm | 6mm | 14.2mm |
Bluetooth | 5.3 | 5.3 | 5.3 |
You can clearly see in the comparison between Tozo A1, A2, and A3. A1 and A2 are IP-rated earphones which means they can be used for workouts. You may notice the driver size of these 3. A3 drivers are double in a size than the other two.
what that mean is A3 has better audio quality and call quality with the DSP technology. it's also true that a larger driver doesn't always mean better sound. but this may be true in this case when we compare these three. however, we suggest you use TOZO A3 for commuting and calling whereas A2 and A1 are for workout.
