It's 2020 and the release date of UE Boom 2 is 2015. I think UE brought many new models that give more and you should check those carefully. You get the things like 360 degree sound, Longer Battery life, Waterproof, Compact design. All is good for UE Boom 2 but if we talk about sound you must check the latest models of UE. You will get more in the same price range.
How is the Design and Build Quality of Boom 2?
UE Boom 2 is a truly compact speaker with a bottle shape design. It has 180 mm height and 67 mm in diameter. Boom 2 is a perfect outdoor speaker because it's highly waterproof with an IPX7 certificate. Boom 2 is not only waterproof but also dirt proof That means It works perfectly fine in rough conditions. Advanced water and stain-resistant acoustic skin that makes it highly durable. Rubberized plastic for a comfortable grip that also allows easy access to the control volume.
At the top side of Boom 2, you get a convenient power and play button. If you want to skip the song just tap the play twice and done. At the bottom side, it has a micro-USB charging port and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The Bluetooth pairing button is at the top. At the side there are control buttons for increasing or decreasing the volume.
If you want to know about the battery status press the both volume control buttons (+, -) at the same time and you will get the current battery status. At the bottom there is a metal hook that allows you to hang your speaker anywhere you want. Overall it's compact and durable. Great design and construction.
How is the Sound Performance of Boom 2?
Boom 2 has a 360 degree sound effect that seems good but the sound quality is not upto the mark. You have the option to adjust EQ settings in the app that helps to improve audio but there are some drawbacks. Bass is good but not deep. Highs and mids are ok. Overall it's well but not good.
If you are looking for a bigger sound I think you must go for some better option. UE brought many models after the launch of Boom 2 in 2015. So compare them and select one that you like. Audiophile needs premium sound quality and honestly saying that it lacks a little bit if you ask about the sound.
How is the Connectivity of Boom 2?
They Claimed to have 100 ft of bluetooth range but I don't think it actually works. It works best upto a distance of 60-65 feet and that's not bad. One room of mine is small size and another is medium size where it worked perfectly fine. No loss of connection. When tested in open ground it could work upto 60 feet and above we found loss of signal and frequent disconnection. Overall I must say Bluetooth connection is good enough.
How is the Charging and Battery performance of Boom 2?
UE said that the Battery life of Boom 2 is 15 hours and it takes 2.5 hours to charge fully. I don't understand how they tested it but actually it lasts upto 10.5 hrs when we play it at 60 % of the maximum volume. I honestly think that 10.5 hrs is pretty good battery life and as we know many factors decide how long the battery will last. Volume level, kind of music etc.
But overall good battery playtime. UE boom 2 performs better when you use it along with its dedicated app that performs so many tasks for you. You can raise and lower volume, connect your Boom 2 with another UE speaker that doubles the sound, turn on and off the speaker, change the EQ settings, check the battery status etc. with the app.

Who should get the BOOM 2?
Boom 2 is for you if you love Outdoor parties. Because it's portable, stronger battery life and it's completely waterproof.
Overall it's far better than previous Boom speakers. In 2013 the first Boom speaker came out and Boom 2 is definitely better than that but certainly not the best. My advice is if you are looking for the better and louder sound you can go for recent UE models but UE Boom 2 is still not a bad deal under 100 $
