If the predecessor has done something remarkable people expect the same level of performance from his successor. Do you know who is the predecessor and successor? I am talking about the V-Moda Crossfade m100 master Over-Ear Headphone.
Recently I reviewed the V-Moda Crossfade m100. These solid headphones won my heart but there were some drawbacks I observed when I tested their sound.
But the next version of the V-Moda M100 called V-Moda m100 master wiped out those drawbacks.
V-Moda was founded by Val Kolton. He was a professional DJ and producer. In 2016 Roland corporation acquired V-Moda. Roland is a big name in electronic musical instrument manufacturing. m100 master is the first headphone after the union of V-Moda and Roland. Two legends came together and produced a masterpiece The V-Moda m100 master.
In short, I can say that V Moda kept the best things in crossfade m100 as it is and eliminated the drawbacks while making m100 master. Someone may say there is no difference between m100 and m100 master but Audiophile will catch the difference in sound performance. So let's move forward and review V-Moda Crossfade M-100 master DJ headphones. Here are some reasons why the m100 master is not only better than its predecessor but also beats many of its competitors.

Crossfade M-100 master costs $250. Is it worth it? Yes! worth it. As I said Crossfade M100 Master is a DJ headphone. Hareplay cable allows you to share the music.
Customizable shields make these headphones more stylish, high durability with improved comfort. especially more cushion to the earcups won't hurt your ears even after many hours of listening sessions.
This time carrying case is more compact. Improved noise isolation is another plus. The most important reason to buy Crossfade M100 master is its awesome sound.
It delivers deeper and more powerful Bass, great instrument separation, perfect & balanced mids. The main reason you buy any headphones is you want good quality sound and believe me, m100 master will not disappoint you.
At this price range, very few brands can stand in front of Crossfade M-100 master but if you observe the overall performance I think rarely any other headphone will beat the m100 master. A big thumbs up from my side. well done V-Moda.

How is the Design and Build Quality of Crossfade M-100 Master?
V-Moda set a benchmark by designing a crossfade m100. Due to great build quality, V-Moda m100 headphones are highly durable and exactly the same lines I want to repeat for Crossfade m100 master. The same kind of patented CliqFold hinge that you get in Crossfade m100 makes these headphones portable.
Strong and durable metal hinges won't break even after twists and turns. I tested them many times by twisting them and they got 100 out of 100 in this test.
You might be thinking that I am repeating the same story that I told you while reviewing crossfade m100. You are not completely wrong but there are some noticeable differences I must tell you.
Earcups of m100 master are softer and more comfortable than m100 crossfade. If you observe both the headphones you will find that m100 master has more comfy earcups. A slightly thicker cushion on ear cups also makes it slightly heavy compared to its predecessor.
V-Moda m100 weighs 280g while m100 master is 283g. This slight weight addition has greatly improved the level of comfort. Another difference is the Exoskeleton Carry Case. You get the same kind of Exoskeleton Carry Case that you get with Crossfade m100 but this time the case is slicker. I could hold it easily.
I also observed better noise isolation with crossfade m100 master. Sound drivers are the same as Crossfade m100. 50mm dual-diaphragm drivers.
Another difference in both the headphones is the different material that has been used. The underside of the new Crossfade m100 master is Leather.
You get a 1-button microphone cable and shareplay cable. This shareplay cable allows you to share the music with others. Crossfade M100 master has dual ports for audio connections. You can connect the cable at the left ear cup or the right earcup.
Though this feature doesn't seem great, it is very useful. Both headphones are compatible with CoilPro Cable. You can directly purchase it online. This cable has a twist-lock mechanism. These Coilpro cables are specially designed for the V-Moda headphones and it can extend up to 12 feet. A perfect cable for DJs and audio professionals.

Overall I am pretty happy with the design and build of the V-Moda crossfade m100 master. It's strong, Comfortable and most importantly it fits perfectly. Many times I used them for more than 5-6 hours but didn't feel any fatigue or discomfort.
Earcups give ultimate comfort as well as block outside noise perfectly. Of course, you can't compare them with ANC headphones but still, they do the job well.
How is the Sound Performance of Crossfade M-100 Master?
If you read our review of Crossfade M100 you will notice that I wasn't satisfied with the audio performance of crossfade m100. I didn't get the deeper Bass that I wanted the most.
Though Vocals were crisp, mids and highs were balanced and instrument separation is good, weaker, and not so deeper bass was the reason Crossfade lost some marks.
Now let's turn towards the m100 master. Crossfade m100 master is a winner if you ask me to compare the sound performance of m100 vs m100 master. master gives you deeper and boosted bass. When I tried the master I observed full soundstage while crossfade m100 is comparatively flat.
Though diaphragms of both the headphones are 50 mm M100 Master gives a better frequency response compared to its predecessor. M100 Master have 5HZ to 40,000HZ while Crossfade m100 have 5 to 30,000HZ frequency response. Audiophiles and professionals can easily catch this difference.
V-Moda crossfade m100 master is certified by Japan audio society. This certification gives enough idea about its sound performance. It is certified for Hi-Res audio. That means Crossfade m100 master also supports LDAC and LHDC.
Another plus that I liked is it doesn't leak much sound when you listen to the music. The old Crossfade m100 leaks the sound very much so that the person near you can actually hear the music. Due to better earcups design, m100 master blocks the noise far better.
